Liberdade

February 28, 2019 – Today it has rained non-stop. I walked to Liberdade which is the Japanese neighbourhood in São Paulo. São Paulo has the second largest population of Japanese people (outside of Japan) which makes it a very interesting juxtaposition of cultures.

São Paulo is a city of inclines (and thus declines) so it is an energizing to walk; a nice challenge on the gams. With is being so grey outside I was beginning to feel like maybe I had made only a slight improvement to grey and snowy Toronto. São Paulo is just so much more gorgeous when she’s sunny.

I had this INCREDIBLE curry and amazing croquettes and I just wished that I was eating with someone who really appreciates good food like Janneke or Akira.

Song of the day: Ann Peebles – I can’t stand the rain
