It’s been a week since I got back from Brazil, and I have spent it being a complete BRAT with dark cloud above my head. I think it’s intentional. I think I am intentionally forcing myself to feel the contrast between everyday life and adventure/exploration. The hope is that it becomes the fuel I need to find a place somewhere in between.
After seeing so much art/design in Brazil, I’ve decided to make it a priority to do the same in Toronto. I don’t think I can totally write off Toronto until I give it a real chance to impress me. This week I decided to check out this drop-in at the AGO Library Archives. They were displaying illustrated books from the 1940’s – 1960’s by Surrealist Quebecois artists. Very specific, but very interesting and kind of meditative actually. Janneke was a good bud, she joined me.

A lot of the illustrated books were poetry books. I want to like poetry but I think it often sounds very saccharine and flowery to me. I should give poetry a chance.
I found this one in a book and I really fucking like it. It’s by Rainer Maria Rilke:

Mmmm. I like that poem.
We decide to go for Pho, bumping into Andrew on the way.
This weekend, the dark cloud lifts because Brianne is in town. I have this great plan to make dinner with Janneke and Bri, but when I finally get to the grocery store with Brianne we both agree that this was a silly idea and we should actually have just ordered pizza.
